2022 Whitefish Bay Invite

Over the weekend we hosted one of the highest competition tournaments in the state! With 7 of the top 10 teams in the state competing to become the best. Our varsity boys started with 8 seed and had Catholic Memorial, Madison Memorial, and Tosa West in our pool.

We played Tosa West first and came out firing. Mason Lavoncher was our game MVP becoming unstoppable in the middle. he picked up 7 kills on 8 attempts! We win the match 25-17 and 15-19.

Next up was Catholic Memorial. They are the top ranked team in our tournament and the boys were determined to show what they could do against top teams. Both games were competitive and going swing for swing. Parker Neumann took game MVP this time with some clutch digs and big swings throughout the entire match. We ended up losing 20-25 and 23-25 but felt really good on how we played.

Our last game of pool play was against Madison Memorial who we played earlier in the year. They had a few new players but our confidence was on an all new high! We controlled the entire match and won 25-16 and 25-21.

Now we head into playoffs and face-off against conference foe, Cedarburg! We got swept in conference play already so it we new it was going to be a battle! The whole game went back and forth and both matches it was tied up at the 20's. We had some big blocks in the middle and on the outside that caused their hitters to get uncomfortable and make more mistakes. With this type of pressure we pulled off a 2-0 win 25-21 and 25-23. This put us in the semi-finals against Tosa East!

With a huge win against Cedarburg I didn't know how the guys would play after spending all that energy in the quarterfinals. We face off a very talented Tosa East team and game one we came out and went toe to toe with their hitting and set one went all the way to 30! We lost that set 28-30 but what it show it was! Game two we lost some steam and we emptied the tank it seemed.

Over all a great day! A 3rd place finish is the highest I've finished while coaching at WFB. Great work team!
